报告摘要:
In the dynamic landscape of higher education, a paradigm shift over the past fifty years has redefined physics education, moving from a teacher-centered model to one that emphasizes student engagement and active learning. This shift compels us to define a ‘student-centered approach’ and evaluate the trust we place in modern pedagogical strategies against the backdrop of traditional lectures.
This session will chart the change of physics education, where anecdotal and experiential teaching methods have been progressively replaced by evidence-based practices supported by qualitative and quantitative research. We will explore the history and impact of a simple conceptual inventory that has revolutionized assessment of conceptual understanding and laid the groundwork for advanced research tools. Additionally, we will trace the research on popular student-centered models like Flipped Classroom, Peer Instruction, and SCALE-UP, assessing their framework design and applicability. We will dip into the current state of physics education research (PER), providing a map of existing endeavor and possible future directions. The session aims to inspire a dialogue on how we can collectively contribute knowledge and experience to the PER community.
