Point-contact spectroscopy is a powerful tool to investigate the superconducting gap and order parameter symmetry in superconductors, complimentary to STM with its unique advantages. In this talk, I will discuss its principles and practical applications on a few superconducting systems such as LuNi2B2C, MgB2 and CeCoIn5. Meanwhile, there is a fast progress for the applications of point-contact technique on heavy-fermion materials in recent years as demonstrated in CeCoIn5 and URu2Si2. I will give detailed discussions about these examples in comparison with STM measurements.
